The carbon credit market grew faster than the underlying science was ready for.

We did not start as a carbon project that decided to make products. We started as a manufacturing operation that recognised the carbon removal value of what it was already making. That ordering matters. A company built around credit generation will optimise for credit generation. A company built around product quality will optimise for product quality. Those are different companies, even when they produce the same material.

We make biochar, activated carbon, and carbon fuel from agricultural feedstock. All three come from the same facility and the same biological source. The biochar is certified for soil permanence under EBC and IBI protocols. The activated carbon meets industrial adsorption specifications. The carbon fuel displaces thermal coal in boilers and kilns. Each product has a commercial use independent of any carbon market — which means the business doesn't collapse if carbon credit pricing moves.

Agricultural residue that would otherwise be burned or left to decompose becomes a tested, certified industrial material. That's the whole model.

The feedstock question has a geography and a logistics problem. We work where the feedstock is — Maharashtra — and sell into markets that value what we make. The carbon economics and the product economics reinforce each other rather than competing.

We're not trying to do everything at once. Three products, one facility, demonstrably certified quality. If that works at current scale, it can work at larger scale. If it doesn't work at current scale, larger scale won't fix it.

Why India And why Maharashtra specifically

Most of the world's biochar and activated carbon is produced in China, Sri Lanka, and Southeast Asia. Most of the policy conversation about biochar carbon removal happens in Europe and North America. There is a gap between where the technical credibility is being established and where the most competitive production conditions exist.

India sits at an interesting intersection: significant agricultural residue availability, improving industrial infrastructure, a domestic market large enough to absorb activated carbon and fuel products without depending entirely on export, and a regulatory environment for carbon markets that is still being written — which creates an opportunity to help define standards rather than inherit them.

Feedstock at commercial scale. India generates hundreds of millions of tonnes of agricultural residue annually. Much of it is burned in the field — a source of particulate pollution, GHG emissions, and wasted biological carbon. The supply question is not whether enough exists; it is whether it can be consistently sourced and conditioned to the quality the conversion process requires.

Manufacturing infrastructure. Maharashtra has an established industrial base — road, power, logistics — that supports production at scale without requiring the kind of greenfield infrastructure investment that remote feedstock-rich locations often demand. The facility can run because the surrounding system already works.

Export access to primary markets. West coast India port access to Japan, South Korea, and Southeast Asia is commercially competitive. The activated carbon and carbon fuel markets in these countries have established import infrastructure and, increasingly, policy frameworks that create premium access for certified biogenic products over conventional alternatives.

India's carbon market is forming. The Carbon Credit Trading Scheme (CCTS) under the Energy Conservation (Amendment) Act 2022 is operational. Biochar-based CDR methodologies are being developed for the domestic voluntary market. Being operational now means being in the room when the methodology standards are set, rather than having to retrofit a production system to someone else's accounting framework.

The team is small and deliberately so. Depth over breadth at this stage. Operations, technical quality, carbon market documentation, and commercial development are the four functions that matter most in the current phase — and those are the four areas where we have actual experience rather than generalist coverage.

Background in commodity trading and industrial supply chains across South and Southeast Asia. Built the company around feedstock availability and product market access rather than around the carbon credit thesis — which shapes how every major decision gets made.

Head of Operations
Production & Facility

Fifteen years in process manufacturing in Maharashtra. Responsible for the conversion facility, quality systems, and feedstock supply chain. Has managed both pilot and commercial-scale thermal operations. The person who knows what the process is actually doing at any given moment.

Technical Lead
Process & Quality

Chemical engineering background with a focus on thermochemical conversion. Sets grade specifications, manages laboratory relationships, and owns the quality control protocols that each batch passes before release. The person responsible for the H/Corg numbers being real.

Head of Carbon & Markets
Verification & CDR

Background in environmental consulting and voluntary carbon market standards — EBC, IBI, Puro.earth methodology, Verra. Leads third-party verification relationships, buyer documentation packages, and CDR credit structuring. Makes sure the paperwork matches the product.

Commercial Lead
Sales & Export

Covers both domestic and export markets — biochar into soil programs, activated carbon into water utilities and industrial buyers, carbon fuel into Japan and South Korea. Also leads feedstock procurement partnerships with farming cooperatives and aggregators.
